ROFIN is one of worldwide leading manufacturers of lasers and laser-based systems that are used in industrial materials processing.
ROFIN was founded in 1975 in Hamburg, Germany.

The Company’s name is a combination of two former co-founders (RO-FIN) and “sinar”, the Indian Sanskrit word for laser or laser beam. The original name of the Company was to be “Sinar”. However, a Swiss company already beared the name SINAR, so our Company was re-named after the acquisition of the English company ROFIN.
As per September 30, 2009, the ROFIN group employed more than 1,700 people.
ROFIN has a broad geographical presence and has production sites in Germany, US, United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Singapore and China. Its global sales and service network stretches out over 50 countries worldwide.
ROFIN has one of the broadest product portfolios in the industrial laser market. The technologies offered comprise of CO2 lasers, lamp- and diode pumped, solid-state lasers, including fiber lasers as well as diode lasers. The product offering ranges from laser beam sources to complete laser solutions for industrial material processing. The output powers of ROFIN’s laser beam sources range from single watts to multi-kilowatts. In addition, through multiple subsidiaries, ROFIN covers the following bands: Laser diodes and diode bars, fibers and fiber delivery systems, power supplies and specialty fibers, for example, specialty fibers which are used as active fibers in fiber laser technology.
ROFIN maintains approx. 20 production facilities and markets its laser solutions in a large number of countries. Its primary selling markets are in the following industries: the machine tool and automotive industry, the semiconductor and electronics industry, the photovoltaic industry, the consumer goods industry as well as the dental and medical device industry.
