Delivery of the 1000th Fiber laser from ROFIN to the Fraunhofer IWS Dresden, Germany

Hamburg/Ravensburg/Dresden, Germany, March 21st 2016: Together with the Ravensburger Machine builder Arnold, ROFIN delivers the 1000th fiber laser out of Hamburg production to the Fraunhofer IWS in Dresden.

Jubilee at the end of the year

The last laser leaving the Hamburg production site of the laser specialist ROFIN before Christmas 2015 is a real jubilee laser. After the first fiber laser in 2009 the 1000th laser out of this series, a 1 kW ROFIN FL 010 C in the compact version, was delivered to the Ravensburg Machine builder Arnold. The laser was shipped in February 2016 together with a newly-developed 3D laser processing system to the Fraunhofer Institute in Dresden, Germany.

The collaboration between the machine builder Arnold and ROFIN has existed for many years: “We have always integrated ROFIN lasers and are totally satisfied with the comprehensive package. From marking over CO2 up to fiber lasers, all our customer requirements are covered. The long-term partnership has also created very good personal relationships between both parties,” comments Thomas Arnold, managing director Maschinenfabrik Arnold the good cooperation with ROFIN.

At the Dresdner IWS the laser is now used in a research project. Here extremely thin wires are deposit-welded with the laser and filigree structures are brought to a cylinder. They are then modified by the laser in their form. The structures will be later used as a tool in printing machines.

„We are pleased to deliver the 1000th fiber laser via Ravensburg to Dresden. We have enjoyed a very good cooperative working relationship with both locations for many years now”, said Lebrecht von Trotha, Sales Manager at the ROFIN-SINAR Laser GmbH in Hamburg. “Already in 2008 we restructured our complete production to lean production and the material flow to Kanban. With this we are able to handle the continuously increasing numbers of fiber lasers, to keep our needs-based delivery times and to react flexibly to upcoming possible changes.”

ROFIN Fiber lasers are real universal tools which can be used for welding and cutting as well as for surface treatment applications. They are available in powers from 500 Watts up to 8 Kilowatts.

The ROFIN Macro Group

The ROFIN Macro Group, headquartered in Hamburg, delivers a wide range of high-power lasers. CO2 Slab lasers as well as fiber lasers with its high beam quality are used worldwide by numerous machine builders in their cutting machines but are also the perfect tool for welding. For surface applications, fiber-coupled diode lasers and diode-pumped q-switched lasers are available. Intelligent system solutions for scanner welding as well as the reliable welding of tubes and profiles round up the product portfolio.
