ROFIN at EuroMold

ROFIN at EuroMold 2009 in Frankfurt / Germany –

New Solutions for Laser Welding - Developed with Our Customers

At EuroMold the laser manufacturer presents entirely revised versions of its market leading laser welding systems Select and Integral as well as the Tool Open in hall 9 booth B81. The new sales partner Berner + Straller shows the compact desktop laser marker EasyMark powered by a fiber laser.

The new Select and Integral versions count almost two dozen new or revised functions. Every feature has been designed on customer-specific demands.

Select and Integral Enter New Markets

Originally designed for the tool and mold making industry, Select and Integral have meanwhile gained broad acceptance in other markets. The systems are used quite frequently for applications with materials that are difficult to weld - such as aluminum, precious metals or sensitive alloys. Lots of job shoppers benefit from their flexibility in opening up new clienteles.

Faster and More Flexible to Use

Let‘s take the manual offset correction as an example for enhancements for practical use. It allows to interrupt a CNC-process for manual correction of component or device tolerances via joystick. Additionally, newly taught tracks can be saved immediately and used for CNC programming. These two examples demonstrate how easy switching from piece production to batch production is.

The new V track mode allows to define a complete CNC, including rotary axis, path only by setting the starting point and the endpoint. Throughput of manual repair tasks is significantly improved and even complex welding paths like threaded welds can be defined easily. Other improvements include a graphical track display, simplified rotary axes configuration, improved CNC teach-in via joystick and the SynchroWeld function now addressable in CNC-mode as well.

Improved Process and Application Safety

The new process gas control checks the gas pressure and thus the laser is not triggered in case it falls below a certain limit. The optional laser class 4 version makes system operation with open doors safe providing the necessary protection features. The system logs all laser welding parameters, for instance for print out via USB interface. Communication with CNC systems works through an Ethernet connection. The new welding systems facilitate service and maintenance work through the optimized system design.

EasyMark with Fiber Laser - Also Suited for Engraving of Dies

The new sales parter Berner + Straller shows ROFIN‘s EasyMark with an integrated fiber laser at their booth F18 in hall 8. Almost any tool has to be marked nowadays - in many cases even many times. The specialist in machine tools, special tools and cooling lubricants is expecting a rising demand for on-site marking solutions. The EasyMark is one of the most compact laser marking systems available marking metals and plastics, flat and curved parts with high quality.

Especially for deep engraving applications, the higher power and the typical pulse and beam characteristic of the fiber laser provide for extremely high process speeds. For metal ablation, ten times as much material can be removed per time unit compared to end-pumped laser. Processing. This makes the EasyMark also suited for manufacturing embossing dies with more flexibility and in less time than with eroding techniques.
