ROFIN at the Medtec 2011

 At the MEDTEC 2011, the first joint appearance with LASAG, ROFIN showcases new solutions for laser material processing in the medical device industry. Here is a brief survey of the products presented at booth 629 in hall 6 with a special focus on the new Performance and the ultrashort pulse laser StarFemto.

Live Premiere - the new Performance

The new Performance once again sets the benchmark for manual laser welding systems. After more than 20 years market leadership, ROFIN has rethought every single detail of this successful technology. The new Performance redefines the state-of-the-art of manual laser welding featuring many application-driven innovations and numerous technical refinements in an entirely newly designed housing. Innovative laser technology, new weld-assist systems and clever solutions - the new Performance is smarter, simpler and stronger than ever. ?

Flexible laser marking with CombiLine Cube

The CombiLine Cube is an efficient solution for manual laser marking. During production, the fully automated pneumatic door provides for short cycle times. All ROFIN laser sources which can be integrated are completely air-cooled and nearly maintenance free. Due to different power ranges and beam characteristics, they cover wide application fields at low operating costs. The highly-flexible design using standardized modules ensures tailored but cost-efficient solutions.

Real cool cutting with femtosecond lasers

Within less than a year ROFIN successfully established femtosecond laser systems in the medical device market. With their minimized heat input and near-perfect cut quality femtosecond lasers offer big advantages in stent production, in particular with sensitive alloys or bio-absorbable polymers and filigree stent designs. There are no heat induced material changes or deformations and post-precessing is dramatically reduced. ?

LASAG highlights: PWS Micro and SLS 200 CL8

The ultra compact, 4-axis laser workstation PWS Micro was specifically developed for precise spot and seam welding applications for the medical device industry. The ergonomic desktop concept and integrated, expandable PC control with 4- axis interpolation capability assures high flexibility, user-friendliness and integration ability into new or existing production lines. The SLS 200 CL8, a fiber beam delivered, pulsed Nd:YAG laser, allows to fit optical fibers of down to 50 micron core diameter at low aperture for smallest spot-sizes down to 25 microns at high working distances. ?
