Join the best at the TUBE 2016: Discover the many possibilities of laser welding tubes and profiles with the ROFIN PWS

Hamburg/Düsseldorf, Germany March 22nd 2016: Every two years it is again time to: “Join the best” at the world’s most important trade fair for tubes and the tube processing industry, the TUBE in Düsseldorf. From 4 to 8 April 2016 in Hall 6, Booth C49, ROFIN again shows the many possibilities of laser welding tubes and profiles. “We are pleased that it is TUBE time again and we look forward to discussions and conversations with our customers and users” said Stefan Ziesemer, Product Manager and Project Engineer at ROFIN-SINAR Laser GmbH in Hamburg, Germany. “This year we show our solutions for welding thin-wall composite tubes as well as classical stainless steel tubes.” With more than 25 years experience with welding tubes and profiles, ROFIN is one of the established specialists in this field.


The PROFILE WELDING SYSTEM (PWS) opens up a wide range of possibilities with welding tubes and profiles. The PWS is a complete laser welding system with an integrated process sensor for welding gap detection and tracking. Thanks to the “Weld Sensor”, the user can observe the welding process while the integrated controller corrects the welding position automatically. The operator control panel offers clear and easy operation of all important system features. System parameters and functions, like laser power, moving axes or gap monitoring at the work piece, can be centrally set and controlled. Thanks to the new motorized axes (Z/X/Y), the operation becomes even more user-friendly and, depending on customer requirements, a connection to product databases can be realized. The in-real-time working sensors and the fast and precise linear actuators ensure the highest production reliability by positioning the laser beam within a few ?m of the seam gap while achieving welding speeds of up to 60 m/min. The integration of a seam inspector or a beam and process analysis tool is optionally available.


The PWS can be combined with different laser beam sources from ROFIN, such as the fiber lasers of the FL Series or the CO2 lasers of the DC Series with output powers up to 8 kW, to optimally adapt to the requirements of the customers. The fiber lasers are the ideal tool when thin-walled tubes have to be welded with high quality and high processing speeds. Also, when welding non-ferrous metals that can be found, for example, in composite tubes, the short wavelength is the right choice. The CO2 lasers play out their advantages when it comes to welding material thicknesses typ. > 1 mm, with a low-spatter welding process when a high-quality weld is required.
